About Us

Meet Our Team

We are an entirely student-led organization. Look below to learn a little more about our Board Members' positions and passions!

Zoe Kaufman

Executive Director

Hi, my name is Zoe Kaufman and I am the founder and Executive Director of Refugees are Served Here. I am a rising senior at Evanston Township High School. In my free time I enjoy playing volleyball, being a leader in the community service club at school, writing features for the school newspaper, learning about history, traveling/learning about new cultures, and spending time with my friends and family! I started RSH because I am extremely passionate about giving refugee families in my community the opportunity to thrive financially and socially in their new environment. I also wanted to create a space for refugee families to grow connections and for non-refugee youth to create connections with their refugee peers. I think it is essential for refugee families to feel welcomed once they come to the United States and know that there are community members who want to support them and see them succeed!

Aniah Roddy

Marketing Manager

Hi! My name is Aniah Roddy and I’m a rising senior at Evanston Township High school. I’ve always loved helping people and building connections, and being a part of Refugees are Served Here is doing that and more! I'm so excited to see all the amazing things that will come for this organization!

Mayra Gonzalez

Outreach Director

My name is Mayra Bazan, a rising senior at ETHS. I’m a part of various organizations in and out of school that have various focuses: tutoring children, generating accessibility for AP classes, and promoting young girls to be a part of sports. On my own time I like to read, paint and travel. There's really nothing like exploring a new place while listening to a good podcast. I have always been interested in non-profit work but never found an organization I fully believed in. RSH was different. I fully believe in the organization and think that it can positively impact lives. As a person whose family is filled with immigrants I recognize the struggles that other immigrants might have—especially refugees—so anything I can do to help, I will.

Tommy Hughes

Technology Manager

I am Tommy Hughes and I am a senior at Evanston Township High School. I am a part of the Justin Wynn Leadership Academy, the ETHS Math Team, and the Table Tennis Team. Outside of school, I deliver pizzas at Lefty's in Wilmette and love to play the guitar and piano. I joined RSH because I saw it as a valuable opportunity to assist in refugees struggling in our community, an often overlooked issue.

Eleanor Hutchinson

Communications Director

I’m Eleanor Hutchinson and I’m a rising senior at ETHS. I joined RSH to foster connections in my community and collaborate with equally passionate team members. Outside of this organization, I’m a General Director of the show YAMO 2022, Co-President of the Women in STEM club, and a dancer!

Clayton Krasinski

Financial Advisor

My name is Clayton and I am a rising senior at ETHS. In my free time, I play soccer, I play bass in orchestra, and I'm a caddie at the Evanston Golf Club. I also enjoy bowling and the outdoors. I joined RSH because I was excited to have the opportunity to advocate for those who are underrepresented in my community.

Sophie Milner-Gorvine

Event Manager

Hi! My name is Sophie Milner-Gorvine and I am the event coordinator for Refugees are Served Here! I am a rising senior at ETHS. I am part of the cross country and track teams and I love to play guitar, read, and go for walks! I joined Refugees are Served Here because I am passionate about supporting refugee families and I have always been drawn to issue of immigration.

Maria Gomez

Co-Editor

Hello! My name is Maria Gómez and my native country is Colombia. I’m a rising senior at ETHS. Some interesting facts about me are that I love to write, paint, and ice skate. I came to the United States one year ago as an immigrant, so I know how difficult it is to start over again. I would love to listen to all the stories and experiences that make America a multicultural country, as well to contribute to the community in any possible way that I can.

Jessica Seghal

Co-Editor

Hi! My name is Jessica Sehgal, and I am a rising senior at ETHS. Aside from RSH, I play volleyball, and I am an executive editor for my school newspaper. I joined RSH because of my passion for writing and storytelling. Both of my grandparents came to America as refugees, and after growing up hearing their stories, I want to be a part of sharing the diverse stories of the refugee community. I believe RSH is an important organization, and I’m proud to be a part of it.
